If life is a journey, where are you going? I hear people telling me they are stuck, they don’t know what to do. We have choices, lots of choices and sometimes it is difficult to decide what the next step is. Sometimes we just decide to take a ‘wait and see attitude’. This is ok in some instances, especially when you really have no direct control over the situation. We can only choose a direction when it is our own stuff to control. Other peoples stuff is out of our hands.
I have this picture on my wall that I feel is very appropriate. I love it because I believe it says it all. I believe we do have choices in our lives and we are able to choose our own path, on our journey called LIFE.
It is important though to decide where you are going. If you have no destination, how do you think you will get there. Think about it? It is true for all decisions and all experiences. You are the director. It is no different than planning a trip. First you choose the destination. You need to know if you are heading to Hawaii, Paris or New York. How can you choose the map, airline or road if you don’t know where you are headed? Imagine you are beginning a road trip. You pack your bags, load up with good fuel, set your GPS and you are ready. Imagine not knowing where you are going, how would you decide which road to take? You would not just drive without knowing which direction to go. You would not even be able to set your GPS. You would be stuck in the driveway! LIFE is the same, yet so many of us don’t take the time to plan the most important trip of our lives. We don’t see the value or we missed the memo on the importance of taking charge and creating our own journey and your own life experience.
The reason we get stuck is that we have got off track, we missed a turn or maybe we got caught up in other peoples’ maps. It happens to all of us, but when you realize it, STOP, and find re-direction.
Maybe you are stuck in your career or relationship, maybe you are stuck not living happily and fully. The first step you must take is to decide what you want. What would make you happy? What would give you that sense of living fully? Is something missing from your life and how can you fulfill that missing part of your life?
I am at a crossroad myself right now. I feel it is time to move to a new home, something smaller and more manageable, though I am stuck. I like my home, I’m comfortable here and I enjoy my space. How can I move forward? First, I must find a new destination. I must create a new destination in my mind that excites me and one that I eagerly look forward to. I’m pretty good at the imagination game, as we all are. We were all born with this amazing tool called imagination. It is not just childs’ play, it is a vital tool in creating the life you love. So, back to my problem… WHY do I want to move? I want to spend more time with my loved ones and less time cleaning. I want more time to create the business I love. To help others find their destination and the correct path on their journey of life, so they also can wake up every day saying, “I love my journey!” WHAT do I want in my new home? I love spending time outside in nature, so a garden or green space is important to me. I love family dinners, so space for my dining table would be a bonus. Once I have the WHY’s and the WHAT’s now I can play with this as I daydream. This is how dreams begin and how dream are created.
What is it that you want to create in your life journey? What excites and motivates you? Where and what do you want to experience?
I would love for you to share your ideas and thoughts about what you want to create in your own life.
