What is Reiki?

Reiki is an ancient Japanese natural healing technique.

It is a very gentle, yet powerful technique that I have been using for seven years in both my personal and professional life. When using Reiki, the practitioner transfers Universal Life Energy for healing.

Reiki is calming and completely relaxing physically and emotionally.

After a Reiki Treatment my clients report to me that they feel so very relaxed… as if they have been to the spa. This gentle or no touch technique soothes the body and the mind.

Is it simply this deep state of relaxation that reduces pain and emotional and physical healing or is there something more going on? I can’t say for sure but, I do know that all of my clients are touched and blessed by this amazing energy.

The word “Reiki” means Universal Life Energy in Japanese. It is defined as that energy or power that acts and lives in all things created. Rei describes the boundless, universal aspect of this energy and ki is the life force energy that flows through all living human beings.

Who needs Reiki Energy?

In my opinion everyone can benefit from this gentle and powerful energy.

Today everyone is busy and in our busy lives we do not often take time to relax and balance our emotional and physical energies. This is very important for inner strength and physical well-being. Reiki is very beneficial in balancing our energy.

Many things can cause our energy to become blocked or dulled and this can result in emotional or physical discomfort or even illness. Overwhelm in the workplace or at home, trauma, big changes, illness to oneself or a loved one are a few examples of experiences that may cause our energies to become blocked.

How we deal with the pressures of daily life or an emotional upset is enough to cause our energies to slow, stop or not flow freely. When we open our energies to flow easily throughout our bodies we benefit both physically and emotionally. Allowing ourselves to relax and quiet our minds comes more easily when our energies are balanced and flowing freely.

By letting go of our stressors in this way we help our bodies to use its natural ability to heal. Reiki is a very powerful technique that can be used simply to help one feel emotionally calm or it can be used as a complimentary treatment with other medical practices to assist in healing. Stress has a powerful effect on how we feel both physically and emotionally.

Stress reduction has a positive effect in the healing process.

What should I expect?

Allow 1.25 hours for your Reiki Treatment. After a discussion about your needs you will settle yourself (fully clothed) on to a comfortable massage bed/table and while listening to soft relaxing music you will be ready to receive Reiki Energy.

I will personalize your treatment to target your needs. Some clients drift to sleep, while others lose track of time in their own relaxation. Each experience is unique as you are.

Depending on what is going on with you will determine your treatment schedule. Some clients book 3 or 4 treatments in a week, others find once a week is a good start while some feel once a month is perfect for them.
